Ever booked a flight online and just felt your patience disappear?
You try to add a bag and it resets the page. You try to change one thing and suddenly you're three steps back.
Nothing dramatic is happening — it's just a badly designed system.
Families can feel like that.
Not because anyone's doing anything wrong. But because most family systems haven't actually been designed.
They've just evolved over time. Routines get busier. Unspoken expectations are layered on. Life admin piles up and you've missed the deadline for the summer camp.
And over time, that creates friction.
Not as an exception — but as the default.
Strain isn't a sign something's gone wrong. It's often just what an un-designed system produces.
If you had the capacity to redesign one part of your family set-up — schedules, transitions, noise, space, commitments, the pace you're living at — what would it be?
Ask that question to someone else in your family. Notice what they say. Do you both want to change the same thing?
You are a unique parent with unique children in a unique situation. What works for me may not work for you.
Take what lands. Discard the rest.
I hope you have a steadier Sunday.
